The Group Strategy That Turned Fundraising into a High-Stakes Game for North Attleboro

The North Attleboro Football Team set a lofty goal: raise $50,000 through their Gold Card fundraiser in just a few weeks. It was a mission, especially with limited time to achieve it. But instead of being daunted by the challenge, Fundraising Coach Matt Ross saw an opportunity to spark some friendly rivalry among players.

To get the team fully engaged, Matt Ross helped split the players into three groups, each led by a team captain. These groups weren’t just teammates—they were now rivals in a high-stakes contest. The objective? To see which group could sell the most Gold Cards and raise the most money by the end of the fundraiser. The prize? A pizza party sponsored by Gold Athletics, where the winners could not only celebrate but also savor the sweet taste of victory.

This competition was not created for bragging rights. It was about fostering a spirit of teamwork, leadership, and camaraderie. By assigning captains and creating smaller teams within the football squad, Ross ensured that every player was motivated to contribute, knowing that their efforts directly impacted their group’s success.

Weighing Record-Breaking Results: Their Secret to Gold Card Sales

With the competition underway, the North Attleboro players hit the ground running, selling Gold Cards to family, friends, and neighbors through the GA App and door-to-door whenever possible. The energy was palpable, as each group strategized and hustled to outdo the others. The Gold Cards, packed with valuable discounts at local businesses, were an easy sell, and the players’ enthusiasm was contagious.

By the end of the fundraiser, the results were nothing short of remarkable. The team collectively sold 1,945 Gold Cards, selling over $48,600 worth—just shy of their ambitious $50,000 goal. But beyond the numbers, the competition had ignited a fire within the team, pushing the football players to work harder and smarter together as a team.

Celebrating the Victory: Prizes + A Pizza Night to Remember

When the final tallies were in, one group emerged victorious, having sold the most Gold Cards and raised the most money. Their reward? A gift from their fundraising Coach Matt Ross so they can have a pizza night together, plus, custom branded quality merch that they can use and represent throughout the rest of their season. These prizes are going down in team history as a well-earned celebration of their hard work.

The pizza party wasn’t just a meal to share—it was a celebration of teamwork, determination, and the bonds forged through a little healthy competition. Now as the players enjoyed their slices, they reflected on what they had accomplished together. The competition had brought out the best in each player, pushing them to go beyond what they thought possible and proving that when the team works together, they can achieve anything.

Gold Athletics provided the framework for their success, offering the Gold Card program, which was simple to use and packed with value for the community.

The Gold Athletics app made it easy for the players to track their sales, engage supporters, and process transactions smoothly. With Gold Athletics in their corner, the team had everything they needed to reach their goal—and have some fun along the way.

Lessons To Take On The Field

The North Attleboro Football Team’s fundraiser is a textbook example of how competition can be a powerful motivator. By setting a clear goal, fostering healthy rivalry, and rewarding success, Coach Matt Ross turned a daunting fundraising challenge into an exciting team-building experience.
