Q&A with Bartley Lydy, Whitmer Boy's Soccer Coach

What do you love most about your sport?

Whitmer Soccer has always been a special Program with a close-knit group. Building and growing the Program has been the most rewarding, more than any of the trophies or championships.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?

In our first league game, we beat Oregon Clay to win the Golden Boot Classing friendly rivalry and take all 3 points in the TRAC.

What was the biggest challenge you overcame this year as a team?

After a losing season last year, we've had to fight for our culture. This year presents its own issues, but our Varsity and Junior Varsity teams continue to improve everyday and compete every game. Facing adversity is the only way to grow as a team and as a person.

Where was your fundraising profit spent?

The Gold Athletics fundraiser profit went towards Hyperice Volt massage guns and will go towards tournaments, team meals and coaches education.

Your favorite motivational quote:

"The important thing is that your teammates have to know you're pulling for them and you really want them to be successful." - Kobe Bryant
